Since 1909, the NAACP has upheld a powerful legacy of legal advocacy in pursuit of justice and equality for all Americans. At the Scotland County Branch, we continue this mission by supporting individuals facing civil rights violations. Our Legal Redress Committee works in alignment with the NAACP’s national legal efforts and refers individuals to trusted legal organizations when necessary. While we do not provide legal advice or representation, we strive to ensure that every voice in our community is heard and supported.
The Legal Redress Committee is responsible for reviewing and investigating all civil rights complaints submitted to our branch. We assist Scotland County residents and employees in seeking relief for discriminatory actions in areas such as employment, education, housing, and public services. Our team of committed volunteers evaluates each case thoroughly to identify evidence of discrimination or injustice.
If you need immediate legal assistance, we recommend contacting a licensed attorney. You can search for one through the North Carolina Bar Association.
If you are the victim of a crime, please reach out to your local Scotland County Sheriff’s Office or Police Department.
If your issue falls outside of Scotland County, you can find your nearest NAACP branch here: https://www.naacp.org/find-local-unit/
